About Us

Like the hand that supports the home in our logo, we lift up those who built our communities.

EWAKI was founded on a simple belief: no elder should face life's later years alone. We are a community-driven NGO dedicated to uplifting the lives of elderly citizens across the Kigoma region of Tanzania.

Our Mission

To provide holistic care, shelter, and companionship for elderly citizens in Kigoma, ensuring they live with dignity, health, and belonging in the communities they helped build.

Our Vision

A Kigoma region where every senior citizen is valued, protected, and surrounded by a caring community — a society that honors its elders as its greatest treasure.

Core Values

Compassion, dignity, community, and integrity guide every program we run. We believe in hands-on support — just as our logo symbolizes — reaching out to uplift those in need.

Our Story

Founded in 2018 by a group of community leaders in Kigoma Town, EWAKI began as a small volunteer initiative visiting isolated elders in their homes. What started with a handful of caregivers has grown into a region-wide movement, supported by local government, faith communities, and international partners who share our commitment to dignified aging.
